Packing for a Road Trip in Tanzania

Are you planning to go on a road trip in Tanzania?

Packing for your a Tanzania road trip is part of planning for a successful safari holiday. If you plan to get to Tanzania soon whether for self-drive or guided safari, packing appropriately is key. As you plan for your next car rental in Tanzania, don’t forget the following essentials on your packing list.

Camera

A camera is one of the essential items that shouldn’t miss out of your Uganda road trip packing list. Do not miss out of the exciting moment when everyone is busy capturing pictures of a massive mountain gorilla as he is relaxed in the jungles or big game while in the savannas of Murchison Falls National Park, the tree climbing lions as they are relaxed on the trees along the Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Money

While most visitors prefer using credit cards to cash, a case of Uganda is different. This is largely a cash economy and not to find issues at the destination, carry some changed money. Once you get to the remotest part of Uganda for a holiday, you won’t find ATM outlets to withdraw cash. But also, do not carry huge sums of money as this puts you at a risk of wrong people.

Bottled water & snacks

Keeping yourself hydrated on a road trip in Uganda is essential. While on a road trip avoid tap water, you can grab some bottled water at a cheapest price at the supermarket or nearby shop. As well, don’t leave behind your snacks to keep you energized.

Essential travel and driver documents

The most important items to have for your Uganda road trip include insurance policy, country ID, vehicle registration, driver permit, passport and others.

Charger and Backup

You need to have a charger for your gargets (phone, pad, laptop or even camera). This can save you in case of the battery runs out of power. Never spoil your experience because of low battery.

Global Positioning System (GPS)

In case you are on self-drive trip in Uganda, a Global Positioning System should be a must-have. This can be hired if you do not have your own or it can be provided at a free cost by your car rental company. It is essential for you to locate your destination easily. You may as well request car rental company for travel map.

First aid kit

Note, not all cars for hire in Uganda are equipped with everything. That is why you need to have your own first aid box/kit. This should come with some headache pills, skin rash creams, painkillers, stomach ache pills, plasters and others.

Toiletries bag

Toiletries bag should be part of your packing list. This should consist of tooth brush and paste, toilet paper, insect spray, sanitizer, sunscreen, face mask and others.

Safety items

You also need some car safety items with in case you know you will be driving via rough terrain routes. You should carry a spare tyre, flash light, water, batter booster cables, spare oil and others.
