Serengeti national park

Positioned in the northern region, Serengeti national park is a large national park in Tanzania stretching over an area of approximately 14,763 square kilometers. Established in 1940, the park is famous for the annual animal migration in the world which involves the flock of over 1.5 million blue wildebeest and thousands of zebras along with the herds of Thomas’ Gazelle and eland. Also, Serengeti national park is known for hosting a large population of lions in Africa though it is under threat from deforestation, population growth and ranching. Other animals in the park include the African wild dog, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, back -backed jackal, African golden wolf, banded mongoose, common warthog, African striped weasel, bat-eared fox and many others. Tarangire national park

Named after Tarangire River, Tarangire national park is a national park in Tanzania located in the northern region. Tarangire River where the park derived its name is a primary source of fresh water for the wild animals in the Tarangire Ecosystem during the annual dry season. Covering an area of approximately 2,850 square kilometers, the park landscape is composed of granitic ridges, river valley, swamps and the vegetation which is a mix of Acacia woodland, Combretum woodland, and the baobab trees. Tarangire national park is known for its wide range of wildlife species including the elephants, zebras, wildebeests, cape buffalos, waterbucks, giraffes, dik dik, impala, elands, gazelles, lions, leopards, cheetah, African wild dog, honey badger and others. Also in the park, spot some primate species like the vervet monkeys, banded mongoose and olive baboon. For the bird lovers, Tarangire national park is the best destination since it hosts over 550 bird species including pied kingfisher, red billed hornbill, pygmy falcon, saddle billed stock, and many others.

Lake Manyara national park

Located in Tanzania’s Arusha and Manyara regions, Lake Manyara national park is a national park in Tanzania situated between Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley. The national park covers an area of approximately 325 square kilometers with about 230 square kilometers of the lake surface. While in the park, spot several animal species including wildebeests, zebras, Thomson’s gazelles, grant’s gazelles, zebras, bushbuck, waterbuck, impala, Cape buffalo, hippos, baboon, warthogs and many others. Lake Manyara national park also hosts several predators including the leopards, lions, spotted hyena, black-backed jackal, bat-eared fox, African civet, African golden cat and many others. Ngorongoro Conservation Area

This is a protected area in Ngorongoro district located in the northern region of Tanzania. The area is named after Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera within. The conservation is known for housing Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. The area is a home to several large animals including the black rhinos, Cape buffalos, hippos, blue wildebeests, Grant’s zebra, Thomson’s gazelles, waterbucks, giraffe, impalas, topi, oribi, and crocodiles. Also, the area is a home to several predators such as African leopard, cheetahs, East African wild dog and many others.

Mount Kilimanjaro national park

Located about 300km south of the equator in Kilimanjaro region, Kilimanjaro national park is a national park in Tanzania encompassing the whole of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in Africa. With an area of approximately 1,688 square kilometers, the national park not only host the highest mountain in Africa but also different wildlife species tree hyrax, grey duiker, rodents, bushbucks, red duikers, Cape buffalos, elephants and others. In montane forests of the park, there are different primate species including the blue monkeys, eastern black and white colobus, leopards, bush babies and many others.
